It’s our vet day, I’m looking for reassurance

@peterpan Oh man. Yeah, it’s so so stressful. Can they give him light sedation on top of the meds? They would give my boy a butt sedation (still fought it) but he eventually succumbed to it where they could do what they needed to do.

It’s our vet day, I’m looking for reassurance

@peterpan My dog is like this. I finally found the perfect vet for him. He just had bloodwork and the whole shebang. He’s normally sedated but this time he did it without. He still takes per behaviorist: 75mg of trazodone/400mg of gabapentin/10mg of clomicalm. We are going to try and see if...

Chronicles of the Pill Spitter: increasingly smell

@elizabeda777 I’m so glad my dog takes his pills squished into cheese. You are a better person than me. Tripe is foul.

Is there a sub like this but for anxious dogs?

@kimmie_kimm Ha! I hear you. There’s no way I could burrito wrap my reactive dog. When he spazzes I’ll say the wind is blowing in a different direction cause he’s just that bad 😆 I got extremely blessed with my non reactive chihuahua. He’s a go with the flow nothing bothers me dog. He just hates...

Is there a sub like this but for anxious dogs?

@kimmie_kimm How big your dog? My non reactive chihuahua refuses all meds so we have to burrito wrap him and shove them down his throat. I get all meds in liquid form if I can. My reactive dog will eat literal trash if I let him so he’s good with med taking. My reactive boy is...

    Y’all, don’t use easywalk harnesses!

@cathya 2 hounds designs makes the double clipped front and back harness. I do love our easy walk and my dogs been using it for 5 years. He is horrible on a harness. Does better with a martingale but easy walk is what we all prefer when we walk him.

We Finally Went to a Veterinary Behaviorist, Here's How it Went

@hammer118928 I was so skeptical about a vet behaviorist thinking it’s just more money down the drain but it really helped us so so much. I’m so glad you had a positive experience. That little boost of confidence really does help so much!! (We are ex banfield patients as well. Horrible...

Thoughts on e-collar ? (Only on vibration mode) the vet recommended it but I am really reluctant

@grace302015 If you don’t want to use the collar you don’t have to. It’s your dog and your choice. I would get a jafco with no treat hole and see if that helps. He might be able to still lick through the wire cage muzzles.

What actually happened when you tried balanced training?

@lilith_eve We use balanced training. I don’t mention much of what we do because I try to respect the subreddit rules but had I not met our trainer I’m pretty sure my dog would be euthanized at this point in our life. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions. You have to do what works for...
