LonG story short, am I messing up the training

@nomoreexcuses24 What are you doing for exercise and mental stimulation to balance being confined so much? Also how did you crate train? Sounds like fall out from the “cry it out method” ?

Shampoo Rec please! Weekly baths on a large dog

@rlneub Ooo that’s a good idea. If it doesn’t help or you want an added layer of protection I’ve seen lots of companies that make custom onesies for dogs that are super light and UV rated! Threadz n tailz is a great one, you can find them on IG!

Shampoo Rec please! Weekly baths on a large dog

@rlneub I hike dogs for a living, and my dog hikes literally every single day and still doesn’t warrant a weekly bath. A warm water rinse really should suffice, yeah they’re not going to be perfectly clean but a dog shouldn’t really be perfectly clean because you’d be stripping them of their...

Dog sits down on walks when we don't go "his" way. Is now sitting down in the house as well e.g going outside to pee (holding bladder)

@sheamusofcountycork Hmmm if your partner isn’t having any trouble then it could definitely be a trust thing with you. How long have you had the dog for? @sheamusofcountycork He sounds like he’s experiencing pain. Have you been to the vet to address possible health concerns that could be causing this?

Dog sits down on walks when we don't go "his" way. Is now sitting down in the house as well e.g going outside to pee (holding bladder)

@nonebutall I’d lean towards this as well. Giving the dog “no choice” like other comments suggest is lazy “training”. Also not to mention that choice/agency is an important part of having a well rounded dog. Dogs make all sorts of compromises to live with us already. Motivate the dog and make it...

    Separation Anxiety and Daycare

@josh1992 There’s definitely lots of good options for small daycares or small group outings ran by a dog walker. I am a professional dog walker/hiker. This is a common service in my province because we have a ton of bush and trails surrounding the communities here. I pickup up and drop off...

How do you build respect with you dog?

@shpchvr Positive reinforcement works, by definition it works. It works on you, it works on your dog, it works on wild animals. If it’s not working, what you’re doing isn’t positive reinforcement. I know you say you don’t want to hear it, but to fix things you have to know specifically what...
